Yeah We are Back Home

We finally got power back! Thank you Lindsay and James for calling us last night when they saw lights on our street! We are so glad to be back home to try to get back into a normal routine. After two weeks of being in and out of our house you realize how much we take the everyday things for granted. We are so thankful to have our power back and that our family is safe and sound. Now we can fix our fence and reschedule a birthday party for a very special 3 year old boy! I will update with pictures soon.

Just Kidding

So my last post said we got power back. Yeah, that lasted for about 10 hours and it went out again while they were working on the rest of the neighborhood's power. Our transformer caught on fire and a week later we still have NO POWER! I am blessed that my family is healthy, our home is in tact and no major damage, but my precious children are so off their schedules and sweet Hannah is really having a hard time being away from home. After our travels from the Cochran's home and the Garrett's home, we have landed at my in-laws home. We are so grateful for friends and family that have been willing to open their cool and lit homes to us during this time. We hope to be back to normal soon with power on. We had to postpone Jacob's birthday party due to no power. So I will post a birthday post after the party and my special tribute to my sweet 3 year old boy.

Hurricane Ike

We made it through our first REAL hurricane in Houston! We were very fortunate that the only damage we had was our fence was knocked down by the wind. Our neighbors across the street from us lost a lot of tree limbs, but our street was not that bad. We all helped each other clean up our yards on Friday and Saturday. It was nice to see our neighborhood work together. Jacob and Hannah enjoyed being outside and playing in water puddles instead of inside our dark, warm house. We still do not have power, but we are hoping it comes soon. Since a cool front came through we are staying in our house tonight after my in-laws made us dinner! The last two nights our friends Jennifer and Judd let us crash at their house in Sealy. The kids enjoyed playing with their kids and having air and lights! Thanks again Cochran family. We will update again when we finally get power back!

Hats, Hats, and More Hats

So before Mother's Day Out this morning I caught both my precious kids with 3 hats on their heads each! It was so cute and I can't believe I actually caught it on camera. I am assuming that Jacob helped Hannah with her hats. Also I am including a video of my kiddos playing ring around the rosie last night!

Playing nicely together!

My sweet smiley boy!

What did Jacob do to my head mom?

We are back!

Well, I am not going to promise that I am going to be good at updating as frequently as I should, but should all know that by now. We had a great ending to the summer. Work has been really busy for me lately, so I have not had any desire to be on the computer unless absolutely necessary and then our internet went out for a week and a half. Jacob and Hannah started Mother's Day Out last Thursday and I thought I would share the pictures of their first day of school. You can quickly see who the cooperative one was for pictures that morning.

Hannah really wasn't in to wearing her backpack!

My sweet angelic boy! Don't let him fool you!
He doesn't always act like he is wearing a halo!

New shoes, new shorts, new shirt!
Isn't he so cute!

Mom, you are going to have to carry this!
